How We Started

Back in 2018, our founder Marcus was working as a financial analyst at a mid-sized investment firm in Sydney. He kept noticing the same problem – graduates who knew textbook formulas but couldn't read market signals or spot opportunities in real company data.

The breaking point came during a team review where a bright graduate missed obvious red flags in a mining company's quarterly report. That's when Marcus realized there was a massive gap between academic finance education and what actually matters in the field.

So he started caliqosara – not as another theory-heavy program, but as a place where people learn by working with real Australian market data from day one.

2018

Started with Weekend Workshops

Began teaching small groups of finance students and career changers in Melbourne. Our first sessions focused on reading annual reports and understanding market fundamentals.

Moved our programs online during the pandemic. This actually improved our teaching – we could show live market data and let students practice with real-time examples.

2022
